R3D File Recovery
Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Will this recover all my lost files?
This will search your drive for all R3D media, and save them to a separate disk.
Now that the R3D files are recovered, I cant see the images.
This tool looks for the headers and footers of files to determine the length of the files and copy them. However, it is entirely possible that some of the data in the file was overwritten before it was recovered, making the R3D file invalid. This situation is not recoverable.
The program seems to be stuck post-processing a file, and both options are enabled.
If after a period of time the program appears to be stuck processing a file, this may be because the headers of the R3D file are unreadable, leading to a hang of the underlying subsystem. Your recovered files are not affected, though some may be moved to their sorted locations while other are not. You can continue to process files but opening up activity monitor and force-quitting the "redline" application. This app will be near the top of the process listing and will be taking most of your CPU cycles trying to gather the header information from the bad R3D file. The file with that had the issues will be noted in the list of files displayed in R3D Data Manager.
The program seems to be stuck finding hard drives on my system.
This situation can occur if you have a network mounted web service, such as MobileMe, currently mounted. These services appear as mounted volumes, but do not give the same information as a mounted volume. The recommended practice is to disconnect from all network shares and start the program.
