R3D Data Manager 4.1

Updates in this release:

Fixed the Render Resolution: We fixed the code to correctly parse the render resolution selection and apply it to the render. This enables much faster render times.

Updated Options: We updated the options to be more in line with other RED offerings, for consistency of verbage.

Disabled options for RSX/Look management: We added the option "RSX/Camera Default" to the look options. Previously, the items set here had to match items in your RSX or R3D file to get consistent results. Now the options will only override the RSX or R3D look options if you choose to. In other words, the "RSX/Camera Default" will use the option as set in the R3D or RSX file with no further intervention.

Updated Alerts: We updated the code to alert you if no R3D files are found in the source path.

Select a single RDC Folder: Now you can select a single RDC folder for processing, or a RDM folder.

Added frames to render: We now show you the current rendering frame and total number of frames to be rendered for both the current file and all files.

Time Stamps: We added time stamps in international format to the log file.

In addition, we are taking reservations for the Windows version of R3D Data Manager. We have a special price right now for current R3D Data Manager license holders for a discount above the posted website price. For new orders, we are running a pre-release special: place your order now and get special advance price. Order both the Mac and Windows versions and receive a combo discount. All the details are on our order page.

Updates in this release:

Quicktime Batch Render We have released the Quicktime Batch Render module for R3D Data Manager. With this powerful tool, you can create native quicktime files for dailies, editing and finishing, right from R3D Data Manager. Some features include:

Batch Rendering: Select a folder of R3D files (or more correctly, a RDM folder) and render all the files therein, in one batch process.

Metadata Save options: Save all the metadata from each R3D file in your batch, to a text file, csv file or PDF file.

Copy of renders: Once rendered, copy the rendered files to up to 4 destinations, at once. This saves you time distributing your rendered files to all the correct places

Assign looks: You can assign a "default look" by selecting a RSX file to use for all the renders. Or you can color-correct each file, and R3D Data Manager will look for the RSX in the RDC folder and use that specific look.

In/Out Points: Assign In and Out points in the RSX file, and R3D Data Manager will render the R3D files in accordance to those In/Out points. No need to render data you wont need!

Supports 5k & 4k HD: Supports the upcoming 5k and 4k HD recording formats. (5k based on current Epic speculation, subject to change)

Frame Masking: R3D Data Manager will exactly letterbox your material to what you were framing for, and then best-fit that inside your output format.

Output Formats: Supports standard HD formats (1080 & 720) and PAL and NTSC.

Output Codecs: Render to any major Quicktime codec supported by Red. Please note, you must have that codec installed on your system to render to.

Timecode Windows: Enable a window burn of timecode information in a variety of sizes and colors.

Processor limit: Limit the processing to the number of cores you wish to use. (experimental)

Help Menu Updates: We've updated the help menu to support the new Quicktime Batch Render module.

In addition, we are taking reservations for the Windows version of R3D Data Manager. We have a special price right now for current R3D Data Manager license holders for a discount above the posted website price.
Updates in this release:

Improved Detection of Red Media. We have revised the way that R3D Data Manager detects Red Media (Red CF Card, Red Drive), which should prevent false positives and overwriting of ProjectInfomation.txt data.

Checksum Generation on Red Media Revised. We revised the checksums generation on Red Media to skip generating checksums on RDC folders that already have checksum files. This supposes that the checksums contained in those files are complete and accurate.

Revised Menus. We revised the menus in the main window to make more sense in the new queue workflow.

Help Menus. We added help menus to all the buttons in the GUI, to let you know what each button does exactly.

Keyboard Shortcuts. We added and smoothed out the keyboard shortcuts. We kept the old shortcuts as much as possible, except where they were conflicting with system or other shortcuts. Please look at the help menu for each button to see the new keyboard shortcuts

The render module is about to be released also. We prioritized these changes above first, and now will fill in the last few things with the render module.

R3D Data Manager 3.0

We are proud to have a brand new release of R3D Data Manager. This version was a huge upgrade from the previous versions, leading to almost 40% more code. However, with that code comes some great new features.

Updates in this release:

New Source Queue System: We have created a new source queue system for managing multiple Red Sources at once. You can add up to 200 sources which will then be processed and copied by R3D Data Manager sequentially. So you can literally shoot a whole day of CF cards, then at night download them all with one click. Or if you have multiple Red Drives, set them up then knock them down with one click. R3D Data Manager will copy them all to the destinations you have setup, and make sure each one arrives there perfectly.

New Look: We have created a new look for R3D Data Manager. This one should be more pleasing to the eye, and easier to find your way around.

Multiple Subfolders: We now can handle directory of RDM folders in one shot. For example, if you copy all your footage (over several Red Mags) to a single folder on a shuttle drive, and take that drive to your Post Department. Now your Post guys can choose that single folder as the source and copy the whole days work in one batch to their system. This speeds up the time it takes to transfer footage, and you dont have to do each mag individually.

In addition to all of the major changes above, we did some code cleanup and workflow changes. These workflow changes were in direct response to users, so please keep your suggestions coming!

Overall, we are very happy with this new look and feature set. In addition, in the next couple of weeks you can expect a new version with our Quicktime Render module. The Quicktime Render module will allow fast and easy processing of footage, ideal for dailies or quick conversions. We already have a working coy of this running on our test systems - we just need to iron out a few last bugs.

R3DManager_2.4

R3D Data Manager 2.4

Updates in this release:

Fixed progress bars to display a correct percentage.

If "When copying from RED Media" option "Erase files after successful transfer" is enabled, the the RDM folder will also be deleted along with the RDC folders.

Enabled copying of digital.*.profile files and log files from RED Media. If enabled, R3D Data Manager will create a folder the same as the volume name of the RED Media and place the digital.*.profile and log files in there, along with the RDM and RDC folders.

Trial mode enabled. Now if there is not a valid license, it will generate a trial key. You will have 30 days to try R3D Data Manager. Upon the expiration of the 30 days, a valid key will be required.

Altered code to store checksums in memory, so if the source is accidentally removed destinations wont be marked as bad.

The biggest thing to note about this release is the change in how data will be stored if you enable the option to "Copy digitial.*.profile and log files". If this option is enabled, it will result in the following destination directory structure for the source RED Media "A001_040408" shot on a build 15+ RED camera:

/dest/A001_040408/digital.magazine.profile
/dest/A001_040408/digital.magazine.magdynamic.profile
/dest/A001_040408/A001_040408.RDM/
/dest/A001_040408/A001_040408.RDM/A001_C001_040408.RDC/
... (RDC folders and files) ...
/dest/A001_040408/*-*-*.log

Here is how the directory structure would look on a build 14 or below RED camera, with the same source and destination and the "Copy digital.*.profile and log files" option enabled:

/dest/A001_040408/digital.magazine.profile
/dest/A001_040408/digital.magazine.magdynamic.profile
/dest/A001_040408/
/dest/A001_040408/A001_C001_040408.RDC/
... (RDC folders and files) ...
/dest/A001_040408/*-*-*.log

If the option is NOT enabled, then the following directory structure will be created for the same source and destination with a build 15+ RED camera:

/dest/A001_040408.RDM/
/dest/A001_040408.RDM/A001_C001_040408.RDC/
... (RDC folders and files) ...

And of course, heres the directory structure for a build 14 and below camera, same source and destination, option disabled:

/dest/A001_C001_040408.RDC/
... (RDC folders and files) ...
